Mathilde Labrouche—designer of French brand Côté Pierre—was born and raised in the small village of Messac located in Bordeaux, the southwestern part of France. She has renovated an 18th-century house located near her birthplace, to live there and to continue her creative activities. For Mathilde, there is no boundary between studio work and personal life, as her activities are just as much ingrained as cooking. She finds true value in authentic “oldness” and will detect any appearance worn by age. She considers the rust and rot of a mirror as beauty formed through time, and brings new life to every piece using her masterful hands.
